Interest in off-roading and overlanding is growing among auto and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Naturally, automakers are going to cash in on this craze by offering some kind of off-road focused trim and Genesis seems to be testing the waters. The luxury automaker has partnered with off-road company Delta to make a GV70 overland concept.

Called GV70 Project Overland, the two companies say that it’s a unique combination of “Genesis’ unparalleled luxury design and Delta’s 40+ years of experience in developing off-road concepts.”

Delta started with a standard GV70. The company says the GV70 was first raised and widened 1.9 inches. Then 18-inch Classic B-Rugged wheels wrapped around Continental ATR all-terrain tires were thrown on.

Up top, the roof gets equipped with an integrated PIAA light bar and a custom-designed roof rack that Delta says gives the GV70 both an aesthetic and “outstanding performance. Up front, Baja-style LED lights get integrated into the lower front facia.

Sadly, Genesis released no technical details or pics of the GV70’s interior. As for the technical specs, we can hope that this thing is diesel-powered. The GV70’s engine choices differ a bit in Europe, where it can be had with an available 2.2-liter 201 horsepower turbo diesel I4 that makes an impressive 325 pound-feet of torque. It’ll likely never see the light of day for customers, but with Genesis announced a longer-term partnership with Delta than just this one build, so at least some models might get some kind of off-road accessories in the future.
