Nissan is promising a new face and fancier trim for their new flagship fatass SUV, the 2015 Infiniti QX80. The current QX has been one of my favorite designs to hate since it was introduced in 2011, so I'm actually pretty excited it's finally going under the knife.
The QX is known as the Nissan Patrol outside the US. The international variant is a little less fishy-faced than the QX, so here's to hoping Infiniti borrows some of the Patrol's styling for the refresh.
For now, all we know is the badge and bottom corner of the taillight are going to look like this:
Pretty much the same as the existing vehicle.
Infiniti says the 2015 QX80 will have a new "ultra-luxury" Limited trim level with "special exterior and interior appointments." Apparently that means "special leather soft-touch and seating surfaces" and "unique new open-pore wood trim throughout, as well as dark-accent trim on the exterior."
Plus a big ol' "LIMITED" badge on the rear gate, probably.
The current QX is powered by a 400 hp V8, which might also get an uprating with a new body. Stay tuned for details as they come out this week at the New York Auto Show.
